Enhancing Smiles with Porcelain Veneers
Your teeth should look as beautiful as they are healthy. If chipped, stained, or irregularly shaped front teeth are getting in the way of your most confident smile, you need a solution -- and fast. Porcelain veneers are the answer. They are thin coverings that remake the appearance of cosmetically flawed teeth. Dr. Dieter Burr is your dentist in Cocoa providing dental veneers.
Reasons for Getting Porcelain Veneers
Two weeks is all it takes to remake your smile with porcelain veneers. These ultra-thin coverings enhance the size, shape, color, and overall appearance of imperfect teeth. Dental veneers can be used to improve a number of cosmetic flaws, including…
- Cracked or chipped teeth
- Slightly gapped teeth
- Teeth that appear too short
- Stained or discolored teeth
- And other cosmetic imperfections
Porcelain veneers eliminate the need for multiple, lengthy cosmetic treatments. And sometimes, they allow patients to avoid orthodontic treatment altogether. For their impressive results revealed quickly, porcelain veneers are quickly becoming one of the most popular cosmetic procedures available today.
The Placement Process
How are porcelain veneers placed? The procedure requires two appointments to your dentist's, with two weeks in between.
In the first appointment, you will discuss your wishes with porcelain veneers. What do you dislike about your teeth? What would your ideal smile look like? It can help to bring photos of smiles you admire to this appointment.
After Dr. Burr has a thorough understanding of your smile goals, the treatment can begin. He will first prepare your teeth -- a process that requires the removal of a small amount of tooth enamel from the surface of each tooth. Then he will take x-rays and impressions of your teeth. This information is then sent to our trusted lab, where your veneers will be manufactured in about two weeks. You will wear temporary veneers between the first and second appointment.
Once your veneers are ready, you will revisit our office for their final placement. Dr. Burr will remove your temporary veneers and check the new ones to make sure they fit and look just like they should. Dr. Burr will give you a preview of your new smile -- and once you give your final ok, each veneer is affixed to your teeth.
Caring for Your Veneers
Your veneers can last for decades when cared for properly, and taking care of your veneers isn’t much different than you’re already used to. Brush your teeth regularly and floss daily for continued and gum health. Visit your dentist as recommended to prevent decay and gum disease. Take your veneer protection one step further by investing a custom-fit mouthguard if you play sports or grind your teeth at night. The impact from both can cause damage to dental porcelain.
