What’s New in Dentistry This Year?
One Major Growth Area – Zirconia (no metal) restorations
Zirconia is a highly stable ceramic that has been used in industry and medicine for
years (within hip replacements, for example). This dense, highly bio-compatible
material has now found its way into dentistry and computer aided design.
First, we take an impression of your prepared tooth and send it to the laboratory.
The specialized computer directs the ‘milling’ of the zirconia core.
Then our expert craftsmen overlay this core with the finest porcelain available.
The results – NO METAL and a fantastic appearance.
How impressive are the results? One dental laboratory recently reported a
417% increase in zirconia based crowns and bridges from 2005 – 2006.
